If you haven’t seen it yet, there’s a new podcast specifically for local authors, artists and musicians to promote their latest works. The main podcast is located on Patreon.com, but is accessible through other podcast sites like Apple Podcasts.

Each week an artist has the opportunity to connect with the community and talk about themself, their new work, what they’re working on next and any upcoming public events they will be attending. The length of each podcast varies, based on how much the artist has to say, but generally last between 25 minutes to an hour.
There’s an options to register for FREE and another option to subscribe for $5 a month. But technically, you don’t need to register at all to listen. Just go onto the site (or find it on your podcast app) and click play.
HOWEVER (you knew that was coming ,right?) if you like the idea of hearing from local authors and artists, then I’d like to offer you a few incentives to support the podcast.

Here’s a screenshot of the most recent episodes. Notice that Episode 12 (Lori Kirstein) is on there twice, one episode is 29 minutes and the other is locked. It’s kinda hard to see in the screenshot, but the locked episode has the caption “Behind the Curtain” on the picture. Behind the Curtain is the paid version of the episode. Why is it worth five bucks a month? Because the perks of going “Behind the Curtain” include:
- Early release – each BTC episode is released on Mondays, whereas the public version comes out on Fridays.
- More content – BTC episodes feature the full interview, whereas public versions are edited for time. For instance, with episode 12, the public version is 29 minutes, but the BTC version is 52 minutes long.
- No Ads – The interviews are segmented to allow for ads. But only the public versions actually have ads in them.
- Bonus material – Often an artist will provide bonus content which is available to BTC subscribers.
And, for those of you who haven’t quite made up your mind to go Behind the Curtain just yet, there is another option. Notice that the most recent episode (L.N. Holmes) displays a bit more detail, including the option for anybody to access this BTC episode for three bucks.
This is actually how I obtain many of my subscribers – they wanted to listen to a specific BTC episode which featured an author they were interested in. Then, after enjoying what they heard, the ole’ voice in the back of their mind whispered, “Y’know what? for two more bucks you can listen to all the shows, early release, no ads and bonus material. What a deal!…“*
Footnote: Not indicative of all voices in the back of people’s minds. Whispers from the voice in the back of your mind may vary…
Still not sure? No problem. Come and join us. Subscribe for free and get to know many of the authors, musicians and artist in the area. Just head on over to Patreon and look for Danothy Grimm and, as I tend to say at the beginning of each show,
Let’s get this party started!
